Reimagining Abandoned and Condemned NYC Real Estate Through the Use of AI
HomeMade is a critical examination of the crumbling state of NYC architecture utilizing AI image generation technology, specifically inspired by models like DALL-E, to transform descriptions of foreclosed and uninhabitable properties listed on the NYC Open Data site into compelling visual representations.
This project aims to provide a unique view into distressed buildings with enhanced views of how AI sees them from their descriptions on the site. The project utilizes NYC Open Data sets of dilapidated or foreclosed real estate in the five boroughs to create hyper-realized versions of themselves and build a mock real estate listing site of these properties featuring property type, pricing details, and location information. This project aims to leverage AI to transform the way distressed properties are presented to the public. By creating a unique platform for property buyers, investors, and real estate professionals, we can bridge the gap between text and visual representation, ultimately provoking a shift in the future of rebuilding, reuse, and reimagining of distressed and decrepit housing structures.
